Week 13 is in the books, and it was another wild weekend of football. My record was 4-3, which dropped my overall mark to 62-43. The overall winning percentage went from 59.2 down to 59.1%. The weekend was highlighted by a pair of close games by division rivals. The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Baltimore Ravens 20-19 in a hard hitting battle. On Monday night, the New England Patriots escaped Buffalo with a 14-10 win over the Bills. In that game, Mac Jones only attempted three passes as the running game and defense held it down. The Kansas City Chiefs continued their defensive dominance by beating the Broncos and get closer to the #1 seed in the AFC. Is the New England Patriots the team to beat in the AFC now? This week they finally get a bye, but I’ll be predicting a total of 8 games.
As always, we kick things off with the Thursday night game. The Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to Minnesota to face the Vikings. Pittsburgh may have saved their season with their 20-19 win over the Ravens. The huge news coming from the Steelers is that this will be Big Ben’s last year with the team. The defense went out and played a great game lead by T.J. Watt and his 3.5 sacks. Pittsburgh is a half game out of the final Wild Card spot and that tie could help or hurt them. On the other hand, Minnesota suffered a backbreaking loss to Detroit who haven’t won a game prior to that. The loss put the Vikings a game out of the final Wild Card spot and tied with 5 other teams with 7 losses. This is a tough one, but I’m picking the Vikings to edge the Steelers. Minnesota Win 24-17
We have another AFC North matchup as the Baltimore Ravens travel to Cleveland to meet the Browns. The Ravens have struggled on offense the past month as they’re averaging 13 points a game. If that wasn’t bad enough, they loss their top defensive back in Marlon Humphrey for the rest of the season. Baltimore have dealt with injuries all season and it seems to get worse. Can Lamar Jackson put together an MVP performance to lead the Ravens to victory? Cleveland is coming off a much needed bye week as they try to find a way into the playoffs. They are a game out of the final Wild Card spot as they enter this last stretch. Unfortunately, they are tied with four other teams with 6 losses heading into this weekend. The bye week will help the Browns edge the Ravens in a close one. Cleveland Win 20-17
We have another divisional game with playoff implications with this one. The Las Vegas Raiders travel to Arrowhead to face the Kansas City Chiefs. The Raiders are slowly playing themselves out of playoff contention. They have dropped four of their last five games with one of them against this same Chiefs team. Las Vegas is currently in a group of four with 6 losses and on the outside looking in the playoffs. Can they come up with the upset in a what feels like a must win game? Kansas City is one of the hottest teams in the league as they’re riding a 5-game winning streak. During that streak they have scored over 22 points once and that was against the Raiders. During this streak the defense is giving up an average of a little over 11 points a game. They should beat the Raiders again. Kansas City Win 27-14
We have one of the biggest rivalries in NFL history in this matchup. The Dallas Cowboys will travel to Washington to face the Football Team. The Cowboys ended a 2-game losing streak by defeating the Saints. A month ago, people were already handing the Cowboys the division, but things have changed. Dallas enters this game in what many believe a must win situation. The Cowboys are two games ahead of Washington and they meet in Dallas the day after Christmas. Washington has surprised everyone with their 4-game winning streak. The Football Team is currently sitting in the final Wild Card spot and one of the hottest teams in the NFC. Tyler Heinicke is playing good football controlling the offense. The defense is looking like many thought they would be despite the injuries. This should be a good game, but I’m picking the Cowboys to barely get by Washington. Dallas Win 20-17
We have a battle between two teams that are looking to get closer to clinching a playoff spot. The San Francisco 49ers will head to Cincinnati and face the Bengals. The 49ers had their 3-game winning streak snapped last week against Seattle. They are holding onto the final Wild Card spot and need to rack up wins. They are tied with Washington, but the Football Team have the tiebreaker over them. Cincinnati looked like one of the best teams in the AFC until last week. The Los Angeles Chargers blew out the Bengals in Cincinnati. The Bengals are still contention for the AFC North as they’re a game behind Baltimore. Can this Bengals team contain George Kittle? Will Deebo Samuel be available for the 49ers? I’m picking the Bengals to leave with the win. Cincinnati Win 30-20
At the beginning of the season, many people had this as a possible Super Bowl matchup. The Buffalo Bills will travel south to Tampa to face the Buccaneers. Buffalo started the season with a 4-1 record but have dropped four of seven games since. The offense isn’t as potent as it was a year ago. Josh Allen isn’t the same quarterback that the Bills gave a record contract extension too either. The Bills currently sit in the final Wild Card spot with these final five games to go. Tampa Bay have reeled off three wins in a row after their 2-game losing streak. Tom Brady has emerged as the front runner for the league MVP in the process. The Bucs have scored at least 30 points during this streak. I’m thinking they will make it four by beating the Bills. Tampa Bay Win 31-24
We have the Sunday Night game that involves the longest rivalry in NFL history. The Chicago Bears travel to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers. The Bears have lost 6 of their last 7 games and the lone win was a two points victory over Detroit. Chicago will seek revenge on Aaron Rodgers who said he owns the Bears. Can the Bears pull off the major upset on the road for a Sunday Night game? Green Bay is still fighting to get to the top spot of the NFC. They are tied with the Bucs as both are a game behind Arizona. Green Bay owns the tiebreaker with Tampa Bay, and they beat the Cardinals earlier in the season. Green Bay can get that spot if they win out and Arizona drop one game. The Pack should easily handle the Bears. Green Bay Win 31-17
We have a battle between the two top teams in the NFC West on Monday Night. The Los Angeles Rams will travel to Arizona to face the first place Cardinals. The Rams ended their 3-game losing streak last week by dismantling the Jaguars. Despite having the losing streak, the Rams are the leaders of the Wild Card by two full games. It seems far-fetched that Los Angeles will catch the Cardinals, but they can keep a strangle hold on the Wild Card. Arizona welcomed the returns of Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins last week. They didn’t miss a beat as the Cardinals beat the Bears on the road. This is a tough one, but the Cardinals are on another level and should win. Arizona Win 34-24
