Easter is my favorite time of year because it marks new beginnings and resurrection of the human spirit. Of course, bunnies and eggs are fun, but nothing really represents the true meaning of Easter like the cross. I found this easy, quick DIY door hanging cross on Youtube and knew I had to make one immediately. The directions were super easy and the materials were all inexpensive items I found at The Dollar Tree. The cross is so beautiful and is made from a baker’s cooling rack that is simply cut into two sections then tied together with zip ties and wrapped on a rustic burlap ribbon. The door ornament can be decorated as you wish, as with all DIY there is no right or wrong way to create these things we love, basically, anything goes because it is your creation and can look any way you want it to. With a little ingenuity and your trusty hot glue gun, you can make just about anything happen.
Materials:
- A Glue Gun
- Glue Sticks
- A Baker’s Colling Rack (from Dollar Tree)
- Zip Ties
- Floral Wire
- Artificial Flowers (optional)
Directions:
First, you cut your two sections for the cross and tie them together with Zip Ties. Then you will simply wrap the cross with the rustic burlap ribbon you bought at Dollar Tree fastening it down with your trusty hot glue gun.
Then you attach it all at the back with the floral wire, creating a hanger for the door. Then you can decorate the beautiful Easter Cross with a big bow and artificial or fresh flowers.
This looks so lovely when it’s up and really puts everyone in the mood for Easter.
