Homemade Chinese Dumplings

admin

The talented An Pike recently made these dumplings and posted it on Instagram so I thought, hey why not share it on my blog with you guys. Well that and I want a safe space to save this yummy recipe till I try it out myself.

Dumplings

Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons of water (room temperature)

An used Maggies recipe, see link below for step by step instructions with videos and really good tips on how to make perfect dumplings!

Filling

Ingredients:

3 chicken thighs (deboned, chopped finely)
1/4 cup chicken stock
An egg white
1/4 a cup chopped spring onion
1/4 cup finely diced carrots
2 table spoons soy sauce
1 tsp black pepper
2 tsp finely chopped garlic
1 tsp garlic salt
1 table spoon sweet chilli sauce
1 tsp dry English mustard

Method:

Mix ingredients together till combined.

Cook in a saucepan on medium heat in some vegetable oil. Once they start to cook (youll hear them frying) add water until they just stick out (about 1/2 a cm above the water). Pop the lid on and cook until water is dissolved

Heat soy sauce in the same pan you used to make the filling and serve along side your dumplings.

Hot Tips

  1. Dont skip on the kneading and resting time of the dough. (AKA dont be in a hurry)
  2. You can substitute the filling with almost anything . Also, keep in mind that you only fill each dumpling with about a teaspoon of filling so a little will go a long way.

Ps, thanks An for sharing the recipe and sending me all these pretty photos!
